I love this movie, celebrating its 20th anniversary since being released, but this is literally laugh-out-loud funny.
Well, it was for me, anyway. Your mileage may vary.
Forrest Gump on IMDB.

Forrest Gump on IMDB.
That was really fun!
ReplyDeleteJEN-NEEEEE
I've said it in front of other people when needing to go to the bathroom, but sometimes I just say it by myself, in my best Forrest Gump voice:
ReplyDelete"I need to pee."
Tom Hanks was brilliant in the role, along w/ the supporting cast - Sally Field, Gary Sinise, etc. and Forrest's journey through life was like a modern history lesson, from civil rights to Vietnam to AIDS.
I've seen people write that it sucked, but the book is really good, too. (by Winston Groom) I can't remember if it's in the first or sequel, but Gump is an astronaut for a while and his son has a great part in the second novel, the brains of a hog farm - a poop to methane enterprise that Forrest manages to blow up. I really need to read them again, but I believe he was also a professional wrestler and had several other occupations as well as playing pro football. He's certainly more of a screwup in the books, though.
Also, one of the best parts of the movie was the soundtrack, some great tunes.
ReplyDeleteI watched it not long ago and don't have a desire to see it again for a while, but it's up there in my most favorite movies of all-time. That I don't like watching it once/week doesn't mean I don't love it - I can't think of ANY movie I want to watch over and over and over again in a row. There's a limit, y'know?
One of my favorites too~, come to think of it, Forrest DID run alot- too bad this trailer didn't utilize "Yakkity Sax" for those clips of him running.
ReplyDeleteI think Tom Hanks is one of my all time favorite actors. I haven't seen the entire movie in a long time. I watch bits and pieces of it when I am flipping channels though. And life REALLY is like a box of chocolates!
ReplyDeleteI watched "Philadelphia" a few weeks back, sis and I'm about ready to watch "Cast Away" for the tenth time. I like him too, great actor. I wasn't all that impressed with "The Pacific" (didn't act, but produced along w/ Spielberg )but am still looking fwd. to his planned mini-series about the Eighth Air Force during WWII.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of "Philadelphia", I watched "Dallas Buyer's Club" a month or so ago, great movie.
I haven't seen Dallas Buyer's Club yet. It's good to know you thought it's worth watching
ReplyDeleteI gave it a "7" on IMDb, sis. To be nit-picky, I would have given it a 6.8 if there were more grade divisions. I enjoyed that it was based upon a true story, plus Matthew McConaughey REALLY did a good job on the role, not just in acting but he lost so much weight, actually looked unhealthy. Plus, him being a Texan means we don't have to suffer through a horrible unreal accent.
ReplyDeleteMy rating is actually pretty high b/c I'm stingy about my movie grades. It's not a movie I'd buy for my collection and watch over and over, but I'll prob. want to watch it again in a few years.
I also watched him in Mud before that one and enjoyed it, too, although the ending was a little disappointing and some of the character development was lacking. I also gave it a "7" but it's better than a "6", so....
