I kept hearing this tune on an Old Navy advert and loved the simple yet beautiful melody.
Did a quick search, and found others were asking the same question. I also found out it had been featured on Gray's Anatomy, but I've never seen that series, so...
The lyrics are cute, but not "cutesy". (and if truth be known, they're so sweet they make me tear up a little - sniff - It would be so nice to be loved like that.)
If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I'd find a match.
Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.
If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I'll make it better.
Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.
I'd buy you Rogaine if you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.
Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
Another version of this video is on her website as well as on YouTube, but I liked this "unplugged" version the best. That's the test of a beautiful song, if the melody can stand alone.
It's certainly not hurt by the harmony of the guitar player.
This is one of my favorite of any recent song. I'm looking fwd. to seeing if this young lady will achieve success or will fade into obscurity as do so many other talented people.
(and we get left with the Britney Spears, Paris Hiltons, etc.)
