Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. Good god, I'm glad I son't have to go back and pass that test. I never was good at grammer ( verb tenses scare the bejeezus out of me. )
Geesh, would be nice if I got my comment in the right reply area. That last was supposed to go in the "8th grade" blog comments section.
Yeah, wondering if my alteration of the layout had anything to do w/ it. I think Alison was posting to the same thread, only hers wound up in another "word" post.
