The church flourished but was forced to relocate frequently. It was violently expelled from Missouri, and a mob killed Smith in Illinois in 1844. I've read three diff. biographies of this woman and love her music. She was a corker!
It's been a while since I read those bios, but I'm fairly certain it was this song that she detested, the very one that put her up in the pop charts as well as atop the C&W one. She didn't want to do "pop", as she thought this one was.
I may have to go check out one of the bios again, hit the highlights.
This is my favorite song of Patsy Cline's. I have the 45 on one of Tom's jukes.
