  Sidney Poitier Becomes the First African American to Win Best Actor Oscar (1964)The first African American to achieve leading man status in Hollywood, Poitier began acting with the American Negro Theatre in New York City and made his film debut soon after. He won acclaim on Broadway for his role in 1959's A Raisin in the Sun and, in 1964, became the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, for his role in Lilies of the Field. This is one of my fav. vids. A silly song that was one of those that stayed in your head all day long.
oh my! That brings me back to the old MTV days when MTV's programming actually consisted of playing videos.

I was on another blog and a guy was bemoaning the fact that MTV didn't play videos anymore and it made me think of this video.
wow i didnt know MTV didnt play video, thats what they were for, what the heck do they play !?! I LOVED THIS SONG!! Thanks mike im dancin over here hehe (Thumbs Up)
