  Sidney Poitier Becomes the First African American to Win Best Actor Oscar (1964)The first African American to achieve leading man status in Hollywood, Poitier began acting with the American Negro Theatre in New York City and made his film debut soon after. He won acclaim on Broadway for his role in 1959's A Raisin in the Sun and, in 1964, became the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, for his role in Lilies of the Field. I didnt know he's the same guy who did Baker's street. Always liked that one as well. I was just on Wikipedia and the guy went missing from a hospital in the latter part of 2008! Rumors of course of his wherabouts but considered a missing person at the moment.
Oh gosh, I should've put that in, but something happened when I posted this and forgot. It was reading about him being missing that made me look up some vids on YouTube, then within an hour of reading that I was listening to Launchcast and heard this tune.
It's one of my favorites.
