The church flourished but was forced to relocate frequently. It was violently expelled from Missouri, and a mob killed Smith in Illinois in 1844. That second vid IS impressive.
Don't think I'd want to be around there, then, and making a decision to outrun the funnel as they did.
I'd have to disagree with ya, Mike- rather have a hailstorm than be in a tornado.
Well, the large majority of tornadoes are out in open country and other than a few scars in a wheat field, there's usually no or very little damage.
Hail, on the other hand, is generally over a wide-spread area, damaging homes, vehicles, etc in urban areas and can devastate crops, ruining a farmer's income for that year.
You can run from a tornado, but it's hard to outrun a hail storm.
Scary things. I don't think I could ever live down there in tornado country.
