Ahhhh memories, never heard about Noddy for a long time , hear him for sure every Christmas , but recent news nothing , I once saw them live ,I think it was at a student club at a university years and years back , had a fun evening , Noddy is a good showman and always looked like he was enjoying being on the stage and performing .
The last time I won a bet over this song (and "C'mon Feel the Noise", also covered by Quiet Riot) was w/ a guy I worked with. He was playing the song at work early one morning before customers got there and I told him Slade had originally done the song. He was quite a bit younger than me and told me no way, that Quiet Riot had come out w/ the song. "Bet you a million bucks." he declared. I told him I would if he had a million bucks. He then said a hundred bucks and I knew that would cause hard feelings after I took his money...and that he, with small kids at home and not making a lot of money (he was a meat cutter, btw). I finally coaxed him down to a cold Coke and he agreed. He went home later and looked it up on the 'net and the next day I brought my Slade CD for him to play and record if he wanted.
I remember listening to this song while I split a bottle of tequila with a disabled guy...we both got so sick. (we drank it in about thirty minutes, one reason for being so ill) His caregiver found him passed out in his wheelchair w/ vomit in his lap and she found ME under his trailer in a pool of my own vomit. To this day, the smell of straight tequila makes me a little queasy.
Thanks f/ posting!
