  Sidney Poitier Becomes the First African American to Win Best Actor Oscar (1964)The first African American to achieve leading man status in Hollywood, Poitier began acting with the American Negro Theatre in New York City and made his film debut soon after. He won acclaim on Broadway for his role in 1959's A Raisin in the Sun and, in 1964, became the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, for his role in Lilies of the Field. One of my greatest disappointments in life is that I never got a pair of white go-go boots. No telling how different my life might have been! I was able to have some pretty good bangs just like her though! Actually I still do--maybe it's time for a hair style change!
I was looking through some of the related videos w/ that one and watched Lulu and To Sir With Love. I remembered us going to see that. I watched it again not long ago and remember having a crush on her as well as a brunette girl in movie. Lulu got a lot prettier as she got older.
I got crushes on a lot of the women in the movies we saw as kids - Annette Funicello, Ann Margaret, but esp. Patty Duke.
