Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. It also becomes heavier cause of all the ice cream I eat!
I haven't had any ice cream in a couple of months, don't guess. Every now 'n then I go to the nearest Allsups and get a pint of chocolate, but it makes me feel so funky after eating the entire pint, I have resisted the urge.
Maybe the weight I've lost equals what you've gained? You know, physics "equal and opposite reaction" and all that crap? I don't have a battery for my scales and am a little afraid to see just what I weigh.
