The church flourished but was forced to relocate frequently. It was violently expelled from Missouri, and a mob killed Smith in Illinois in 1844. They really do deserve to be in The Country Music Hall of Fame , what a talent , and the way she used her fingers on that guitar is awesome , well I read that her technique is well known and practiced today , I hadnt heard of them until seeing them here but I really enjoyed listening to them and will go listen to a few more of their hits on line .
They sure were a talented family.
If you've not seen it, I would recommend watching Walk the Line, a pretty good bio of Johnny Cash and his relationship with June Carter. Good movie, IMHO.
I put Wildwood Flower in because it's one of the first songs I ever learned to "pick" on the guitar. I've not picked up a guitar in years and years, but I bet I could still do a passable job on it.
