Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. I'll never understand the allure of watching a tornado up close and personal when you know that it can kill you where you stand. The only place I want to run is away from it.....hopefully to a storm shelter. I guess I don't have an adventurous bone in my body!
After taking my camera out of my car the night before the Pampa tornado, I swore I'd never be w/out one again.
Dunno, why, but they fascinate me. I'd put in more tornado vids if I thought folks were watching them.
I'd be a storm chaser if I knew more and could afford to do just that and nothing else.
