Deleted the first comment because it was kind of off base. I liked that era of music a lot. Pop music was very experimental and bands were trying out a lot of different sounds.
That band in particular had a lot of famous faces pass through it's ranks, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck.
I like it too, Barb, because that was what I grew up on. With two older sisters, I "had" to listen to the music they liked, always the last one w/ dibs on the record player!
My oldest sister liked this kind of music, but she was more of a "mellow" music lover. My other sister liked pop music but gravitated towards country.
On my own personal list, this would be one of the best ten tunes of all-time.
Yeah, Laura, Barb's a sharp cookie and she's right about this band. Not only this one, but others. (not that I can't list them, but the list would be long and I'm in a hurry)
I think during one period of time early on, they did dress like that, but I think it was a uniformity thing. I also think they finally realized it wasn't important and that no one really cared how they dressed. I expect performing on some national programs they wanted to make a good impression... who knows?
Thanks f/ posting, both of you!
I didn't have siblings but I hung out with my next door neighbor and her friends who were 5 or 6 years older than me. They were very tolerant of the little red head that was tagging along. I can remember debates about the who was better, the Beatles or the Stones when I was just a kid of 8 or 9. I had a little hand held transistor radio that I took everywhere with me, I was always listening to music, it's sort of the backdrop to my growing up.
I had one of those little hand held transistor radios that was my constant companion when I was about 16-17 years old. The radio stations were few and far between though and most of them in the area where we lived were country and western. I waited for evening to come so I could tune in to KOMA in Oklahoma City and listen to the pop music of the time. There was a lot of diversity in the music of the 6o's and I loved it all.
Did I say I love this song?
I can do this all day.
