The church flourished but was forced to relocate frequently. It was violently expelled from Missouri, and a mob killed Smith in Illinois in 1844. Good grief. That's all I know to say other than that's some scary stuff. I'm sure it's all true though.
Interesting way to make a great point. Reminds me of a Cris Angel episode where he posed as a Tarot reading psychic and had people convinced he was reading their minds. All he was actually doing was reading horoscopes he'd clipped out of the newspaper. It was all in his delivery. Folks would come out of the readings claiming "He knew everything about me!" When he revealed to them what he'd actually done the reactions were quite similar to this vid.
