One of the best scenes from the hit TV series Northern Exposure. The original intent was to "fling a cow" but this was better.

  As the World Turns Premieres (1956)Soap operas began in the early 1930s as 15-minute radio episodes and continued in that format when they began appearing on TV in the early 1950s. As the World Turns premiered as the first half-hour TV soap. The show, which primarily focused on two professional families in the fictional town of Oakdale, Illinois, ran for 54 years and aired nearly 14,000 episodes. That's another show I never watched. Guess I've spent most of my television watching time on Days of Our Lives this past 45+ years. Not that I'm 45....just that's how many years I've been watching DOOL.
I didn't watch it until it was on A&E in the mornings several years ago, prob. ten/fifteen or more. I resisted it because a little bit I watched wasn't so good, then found out it was really a clever and quirky comedy after giving it a shot.
It jumped the shark in the next-to-last year, then the last season had maybe two/three shows worth watching...the only reason I would watch them now is because of Teri Polo, plus bumping into Janine Turner not far from where you used to live in Denton.
It also had a great soundtrack, which isn't on any of the DVD releases, a shame.
