Yes interesting , I don't like it a lot to be honest , not the taste but just because its kind of too fizzy for me , I know some of the kids in my family have drank gallons of it ( their dad worked for the company and got lots of freebies ) I have always thought Coca cola did a good job of advertising their product from the Victorian style Santas to the advert song ;Id like to buy the world a coke' it really is a guarded secret recipe , but pepsi must have came close to matching it as its almost the same taste but not quite, I prefer pepsi myself, always seems a little less strong on my tastebuds .
I used to prefer it over most cola drinks, but I did my favorites in spells; I dated a woman who loved Dr Pepper and since that's what she had at her house and what I kept in mine for her (I didn't drink a lot of soda pop then) that's what I started liking.
When my diabetes starting hitting me hard and before I knew what was wrong, I was drinking a LOT of soft drinks...which, of course, made it worse. I was SO thirsty all the time and something about the carbonated "bite" seemed to slake my thirst better than water. Good ol' water is what I drink the most of, now, plus 2-3 cups of coffee/day or sometimes tea.
I just bought a liter of Diet Coke while I was out earlier; I'll drink on it for several days. Funny, I always swore I'd NEVER drink diet sodas b/c they tasted so nasty to me, then I found out if I was going to get to drink them, that's what I had to settle on. Still, I preferred other diet sodas, like DP or my fav., Big Red, which tastes really close to the sugar version. I do prefer diet Pepsi to Coke, but I didn't see any at the store earlier, don't think they carry 'em. I also like diet 7-Up, but don't see them much, plus it doesn't have any caffeine and that's what I want! (most of the time!)
Thanks f/ posting!
It's Coca-Cola for me all the way. I drink way too much, but I don't see that changing unless I find out I am diabetic like you and Sandy did, Mike. When I do drink a diet drink it's A&W diet root beet of diet cherry 7-Up. I don't mind those at all. I have also tried some of the "10" drinks. I'm not sure what sugar source they use but they are only 10 calories. I have tried the A&W root beer, 7-up and orange and they aren't too bad. It's all what your body gets used to I think.
