This Day in History
  Buchenwald Concentration Camp Liberated by American Troops (1945)Buchenwald was one of the first and largest concentration camps in Nazi Germany. As US forces closed in on the camp near the end of WWII, the Nazis began evacuating its prisoners, forcing them on "death marches" during which an estimated 13,500 were killed. On April 9, inmates at the camp used a makeshift radio transmitter to inform the Allies about the evacuations and beg for help. Someone had WAY too much time on their hands to do all that. I didn't watch the entire thing though. I love that show and usually watch it at least once a year
I didn't watch it all either, just to the 22 min. mark. I'll slog through it sometime in the future when I can. I haven't watched it in years. My friend from Cyprus Alison once said she was a little tired of it. It surprised me and she explained that she had two children and when they were small, she must have watched it a hundred times - several times in a row ea. yr. - over the course of their childhood.
I'm not tired of it, but the flying monkeys sorta freak me out. -wink-
