Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. Someone had WAY too much time on their hands to do all that. I didn't watch the entire thing though. I love that show and usually watch it at least once a year
I didn't watch it all either, just to the 22 min. mark. I'll slog through it sometime in the future when I can. I haven't watched it in years. My friend from Cyprus Alison once said she was a little tired of it. It surprised me and she explained that she had two children and when they were small, she must have watched it a hundred times - several times in a row ea. yr. - over the course of their childhood.
I'm not tired of it, but the flying monkeys sorta freak me out. -wink-
