![]() ![]() US President Franklin D. Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. However, there simply was not enough gold in the US—or the world—to cover the nation's debts. How many people were prosecuted for violating the order? More... Discuss |

I had to correct a couple of mistakes. I'm not good under pressure.
64, with some backspacing for errors. My high school typing teacher would be ashamed, I used to be quite a bit faster.
I had a 60-something the other day with a short simple sentence and no punctuation.
I took two years of typing in H.S.; was a choice between that, home ec or choir.
I can type like a big dog if I wanna.
Cool test - I did 57 words per minute - better than I anticipated but I had a few mistakes too.
OK, my typing joke; it's not really fit for human consumption, but....
A guy was interviewing women to be his secretary and he REALLY wanted to hire this one, but it didn't look as though she were qualified. She was SO good-lookin', though...
"Can you take dictation?" he asked.
"Well, I dated Dick Smith once." she replied. "He took ME places, though."
This was going to be harder than he thought. He posed another question, hoping there would be SOME justification for hiring her.
"Do you know how to file?"
"Oh yes!" she said with enthusiasm. "I like to do my nails every chance I get!"
The man sighed. He had one last chance and it didn't look good.
"Can you type?" he asked.
"Oh yes." she said. "Just not very fast and not like most people, I can only use two fingers, like this." jabbing at his desk with the manicured nails of the first fingers of both hands.
"Oh." said the man, his heart broken that she was not going to have a single qualification.
"You're a 'hunt 'n pecker'."
"Oh no." she said firmly. "I've got a boyfriend."
