Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. Oh my word, eiterh that is the narrowest donkey in the world or it's just a funny camera angle. He sure is shaggy tho.
My gosh, I never noticed that. Sheesh. I was just going thru some albums/folders I have and looked through the best of the rest that I hadn't posted.
I always feel a little sorry for those animals like that; I guess it's just because I was brought up to take care of one's animals and that includes spending some time w/ them. Some of these horses/goats/donkeys/mules, etc. sure seem starved for attention.
Some, as you've said in an earlier post, are a little bit "lean", not mistreated but not treated to MY standards and I'm fairly realistic about animal's place in the world.
Wish I had a little bit of land where I could have some animals like I've photographed.
