Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. ugh, I'd hate that. I get all whingie when it hits 90 here.
Always have the "dog days" here this time of year, Barb. It will start cooling off fairly soon. The nights have been around 70, so it's not too bad. I HAVE been running my a/c more than usual and my elec. bill is three times the usual, but it's not too bad.
Was reading in my political forum that it's snowing in the high elevations of Nevada.
