Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. Some of the comments under the video said they thought it was faked or that the young woman was just acting. I don't think so, I think she's genuinely...maybe not "terrified", but definitely freaked out.
I remember being terrified by a rooster when I was a kid and my dad laughing his head off. That rooster picked on me more than anyone else and would chase me around. Now I now it just saw me as another rooster, a threat to his leadership of the flock.
I was even more traumatized after dad had chopped its head off so we could have it for Sunday dinner...he told me to go and get it for him, but I wasn't going to touch something without a head that was still floppin' around.
Now I KNOW...
