Zamboni Google Doodle

Zamboni Google Doodle

(say that three times really fast)

Maybe Google is celebrating the return of ice hockey, but it's also the birthday of Frank Zamboni, the inventor of his namesake, the iconic ice resurfacer.

The game is easy to play; Press the arrow "start" button and a little skater will come out, skate around and leave a trail on the ice.

Then, using the arrow keys, drive the Zamboni around to resurface the ice.

Not an exciting game, but like most doodles done with a pencil and paper, it's simply a way to pass time.

As if there's not enough ways to do that on the Internet.

Here's another time waster, but at least it will increase your trivia knowledge:

Draw Poker, No Joker

I was playing a game of poker earlier today; I threw away a queen out of a pair, hoping to at least get a flush, but drew into a Royal Flush

I was afraid to bet it too big, but my computer opponents insisted upon raising my fairly modest wager.  In hindsight, I wish I had bet more.

Yep, read 'em and weep.

PHUN

Not so much a game, but instead a time-waster.

Run your cursor over the multi-colored balls and split them into more, all the way down to the pixel level. When you're done, an image will be revealed.

To be honest, I've not had much free time lately and haven't finished this to conclusion, so I don't know what sort of image is behind the balls.

(If it's a nude woman, someone tell me and I'll find the time to finish take it down.)

Shoot the Puppy

The object of the game is to NOT shoot the puppy.

I tried and tried but could not win the game.

Best Hearts Game

This is, I think, the best score I've ever had playing this infuriating game.

Rollercoaster Creator

This looks like a fun game, but I'm not very good at it; my coasters keep falling off the track, killing everyone aboard.

Build your coaster with the tools provided and collect the coins and stars along the way.

Raindrop Melody Maker

Click on a raindrop to play a sound that loops every 6 seconds. Click on it again to stop its loop. The metronome button starts a beat that can help you keep time. The stop button stops all the loops and the metronome too.

Splitter

Object of the game: Help the smiley face guy get to the exit.

Use your mouse to split objects and joints. You have a fixed number of cuts at each level. Only wood and joints can be split; the metal and brick objects can not be split. Collect stars to get points.

In the example above, you would need to cut through the wood that the smiley guy is on (just to the left of the left brick that it's sitting on), then cut the metal weight to make it fall and propel the the smiley upwards to the exit (the brown button) and getting points by hitting the star on the way.

Unlike many other games, you can immediately try the level over, or skip it entirely or even view the solution. You must complete all levels, however, to send your score.

Redstar Fall

Fascinating game, a cross between Jenga and Tetris.

Click on a block to remove it; your ultimate goal is to get the red star on the bottom platform without it falling off.

Balance

Balance

The object is to balance the scale as fast as possible

Add a weight by pressing and holding your mouse button. While holding the mouse button your weight will grow. When you release, the weight will fall. If you overload the side, add weight to the other.

You have a limited number of weights per level; if you run out, the game is lost.

Super Slugger

Super Slugger

A great batting game with cool sound effects. Easy to play, choose between left or right-hand batters, follow the path of the ball and center the "sweet spot" with your cursor and use the left mouse button to swing away.

It's not so easy to hit a home run, though, at least after the first pitching change.

Extra points for hitting birds as they fly across the outfield. There may be extra points for hitting the blimp, but I never did it.

I LOVE batting games; there's some odd satisfaction in watching the ball go into the bleachers or hitting the scoreboard and breaking it.

NationStates

NationStates is based upon a novel, Jennifer Government by Max Barry.

From the site
:

NationStates is a free nation simulation game. Build a nation and run it according to your own warped political ideals. Create a Utopian paradise for society's less fortunate or a totalitarian corporate police state. Care for your people or deliberately oppress them. Join the World Assembly or remain a rogue state. It's up to you.

NationStates

I've signed up!

Location: The North Pacific

Regional Influence: Minnow

The Republic of ToTG is a fledgling, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 21%. A substantial private sector is led by the Soda Sales industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Retail.

Crime is moderate. ToTG's national animal is the cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the mike.
