It was a beautiful moon here in NH. So bright in the sky it lit up everything.
This was the first song I heard when I started to play my parents old style record player when I was young , great song , sure they must still have it in storage along with a few other golden oldies.
Reminds me of "An American Werewolf in London". I don't remember my folks having this exact type of music in their own record collection, but I do remember Sam Cook, The Ink Spots and loads of show tunes.
I also remember their record player they bought in the early 60's; it was a Curtis Mathis (good quality) console model, about the size of a small car. (J/K, but it WAS huge, about four foot long) They bought it from a rent-to-buy place here in town, and many years later I worked there part-time, and was killing time in the warehouse waiting for a co-worker to come back and get me and I found the old receipt. I can't remember exactly just how much it was but it was close to a thousand bucks total, a bit over maybe. At the time, I expect my dad probably wasn't making much more than four/five hundred a month, so they really sacrificed to buy the thing.
Don't remember what sort of moon WE had that night, Barb. It's been overcast a lot here lately, what with fronts moving in quickly and passing through, bringing down the cold Canadian air.

Im trying now to remember what the name of the record player was my mom and dad had now and it will kill me to remember, somehow I recall a name 'his masters voice' been written somewhere but that may have been on something else , will have to remember to call them or ask my brother who may know better.

That does a pretty good job of explaining that phrase. I remember it on records, with the iconic trademark of "Nipper" the dog listening to the old Gramaphone.
Funny now, stereos, just like hand-held calculators. (and my ex bought one f/ $75, now they're five bucks and have more computing power) That Curtis Mathis that cost a thousand bucks couldn't hold a candle to some bookshelf stereos that cost a hundred. Still, it sounded pretty good, not for sure what happened to it, remember a few problems w/ it.
I have a friend who still has an extensive record collection, but he swears by his reel-to-reel. I got broke and sold my own collection of about a hundred albums. I used to have a lot of 8-track, thought they were better than the cassette...boy, was I wrong. I have quite a few cassettes and have amassed a decent collection of CDs. I do miss the album art, though.
I have something like 33 DAYS of mp3 tunes; to be fair, quite a few are doubles I need to delete. I do have 168+ hrs. of tunes in my 5-start/favorites. I take listening to music in spells.
