Live Traffic Feed

New ToTG item from FEEDJIT over in the right-hand column, down near the bottom.

It doesn't keep statistics like a regular counter; instead, it displays a fairly anonymous listing of who visits, where they entered from and to where they go.

I'm gonna have to be careful about my entries/exits, looks like.

This is a very interesting widget. I've been popping in here off and on to see just who is viewing this thing, where they're from and where they've entered from.

We've had "hits" from China, Tawain, Great Britain and all over the US so far. I know where my friends live, so I know they're looking in, but it's neat to see that some folks are coming in via Google.

Great find Mike! I like this. quick and easy to see who's been and from where. I was going to put it on our blog but Alison beat me to it! She's becoming quite the webmaster now, or is that webmistress? Oh that sounds kind of exotic and maybe a bit implying sexism.. well I've never been one so politically correct. all I now is she's done good :) Thanks for sharing this, pretty neat and its customizable too for your sites layout, just wish it didnt have that ugly puke green Feedjit link colour at the bottom! YUCK!

LOL

Yeah, I like it, G. I took off several of the feeds, even though I liked 'em and decided I'd have only a few.

I need to "clean up" some more, perhaps just put a link to my slideshow, etc. There's a couple other things I'd like to use. I just want the place to load quickly for most folks, not have them put off by the page not loading at all.

(and speaking of that, I regularly visit a few other Blogger places that load very, very slowly for me or even hang up, so I don't know what causes that other than the Blogger servers or some third party feeds that gum up the works, reckon?)

Some of my hits have been from me linking to news stories; I try to respect the CR of these things, but probably push the limit, but I also always give a link to the story, so...maybe they'd cut me some slack. I noticed on one, hoever, about the prison guard shortage, that the link was already invalid only after a month or so.

Other hits have come from YouTube, and that's a little surprising, but it at least gives this pathetic excuse for a blog a little bit of exposure.

Thanks for posting

Yeah I run into that too with a lot of the blogger sites, the slow loading or hanging pages. I'm sure you were right on about it being a lot of third party add ons and feeds gumming the works as you said. And a lot of it too I think is from them customizing the html of the templates I think, add who knows what to it. I notice a lot of sites with the nav bar disabled, most times by script.
i should get to cleaning up some the things we have too in the right hand column, well ts not like there's a lot of updated stuff that people keep coming back to see either! I have that google news fee takes a little bit of time to load and the slide-show, and the blogrolling widget too.. well a lot of things! and then we find things like this and add even more. LOL Well what can I say, I like toys and gadgets! ;) Ok off to bed now, another early day tomorrow and its a holiday weekend at the beach, just the start of the crazy summer season here.. see you in September! ;) I'm joking I hope! :o) take care my friend, see you soon
