Sorry to all who have posted and had to go through that silly word verification thing in order to comment. I didn't have it enabled, but with the latest upgrades to Blogger, I guess it defaulted to that setting. I never noticed because as the "owner" of this blog, I wouldn't have to do it.
I HATE the word verification. Sometimes I can't make out a "1" from an lower case "L" and others.

No problem Mike, although I hate them too. One site I was on had simple math problems, 1 + _ = 3, that sort of thing.
Kind of like that as much as anyone can like a captcha. At least they were easy to read.
Totally off topic but I was looking at your local news feed and this headline caught my eye: "Classic Brewfest provides cribs for babies".
I was thinking, "Good Lord! They're providing cribs for people to park their babies while they go drink?"
But having read the article I realized to my chagrin that the brewfest was a fund raiser to provide cribs to needy families with infants.
I meant to write a post about those captcha codes. I wrote one about the different types, but meant to write another about something I found out about them. They have a purpose beyond verifying that it's not a bot posting. It's been several years ago, but the words - when they're actual words - were part of a vocabulary research project.
The thing that I really disliked about them was not only not being able to tell what a letter was, but how they put random slashes and lines within the letters, making a letter look like something else. I always liked the math problems, were the easiest.
I made a fellow blogger angry a year or so ago; had posted after a long absence and he asked where I had been. I told him the verification process was annoying and just too much trouble. He took offense, telling me that what I said was a direct attack on what he posted. I didn't disagree, because I feel like I have to balance the time used to do the damn things against whether replying was worth the effort.
I just think it's silly to make your visitors jump through hoops in order to comment. It's like those managers in Groups that required you post once a week or month or the like. I appreciate the loyalty of my few readers, but I also don't expect you to check in every day or comment on everything I post.
I do appreciate you guys commenting, though.
And something else - it's a lot easier for me to delete spam comments than it is for people to do all that verifying. I did get a hateful comment now 'n then when anyone could post, so I set it to the next level, where people have to have a Google or some other account. That way if they post something hateful, I can look them up and if it's something really horrible, I can complain to the site that issued them their account.

Headlines are funny, sometimes. I wrote headlines competitively when I was taking journalism in h.s., went to region two years in a row, just barely missed out on going to state each time. Letters have a count and they would give you a maximum number you could use, then you'd have to fit the headline to the article within the limits.
I can not for the life of Me see them at times. Guess We all suffer from other people not being nice.~sigh~
