A 'bump" for Saint Patrick's Day; I started to post some other Irish-associated video, such as Riverdance or the Irish Rovers, but I love Enya's music and why waste a perfectly good - even if old - post. Yet again, I had to change the embed code that I had changed 5/8/12...hope this one stays up for a while.
Original post: May 14,2008. Saw that the video had been removed, so I found another. One of my favorite songs, one of the loveliest.
At first I thought it might be a Harry Potter parody that appeared on my YouTube recommendations, a video of Hedwig's Theme done on harps...by twins, no less. I watched it and even though it was obvious it wasn't an expensive, professionally done production, it still was entertaining. (even if you're not a fan of the harp, what's not to like about the HP theme...and two pretty young girls? Well, I guess if you hate HP and are female yourself....)
I checked out their channel - Camille and Kennerly - and subscribed, mostly because of this video.
I've seen all kinds of covers of their music, but I've NEVER seen an AC/DC tune done on harps.
Like that? Check out their rendition of Don't Fear The Reaper. That song fits the harps a little better than Highway to Hell, JMO....although Sweet Child O' Mine is pretty darn good, too. They not only do covers of rock classics, they also did a great job on Scarborough Fair and Ghost Riders In The Sky, showing that harps can sound good in any genre of music.

From Wiki: The song was written and sung by Pete Ham and produced by George Harrison, who plays some of the slide guitar parts of the song along with Ham. The record also features Leon Russell on piano. As the song was unfinished at the time Harrison left the Badfinger album to produce the Concert for Bangladesh, the final mix was done by Todd Rundgren, who took over Straight Up after Harrison's departure. Released as a single in the US in November 1971 (January 1972 elsewhere), it would become the group's highest charting single there, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. It also peaked at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart in January 1972. It remains the band's best-known song, most notably for the slide guitar solos. It went Gold in March 1972, becoming the band's first and only gold single. "Day After Day" reached number 10 on Billboard's Easy Listening survey.
Because of all of the overdubs, Badfinger was hesitant to play this song
live for years, since it was impossible for a four-piece group to
reproduce the single production. However, the song was included in the
setlist for Badfinger's 1974 tour.
I was watching Confessions of a Dangerous Mind last night and this song was included in the movie because it's a (supposed) autobiography of Chuck Barris, the man who wrote the tune. Even if half the things in the movie weren't true, he still led an interesting life. He was accused of lowering the quality of television and while I wouldn't argue that either way, you you can't really blame him for the schlock that's on the tube these days.
If the pretty, voluptuous middle dancer with multiple tattoos looks familiar, then you're probably a fan of American Pickers on History. Her name is Danielle Colby-Cushman and she "plays" the office manager on the show.
A "bump" from 11/22/08 because I just read this: Flock of Seagulls Robbed. Before I clicked on the link, I figured it was the band that got robbed, not literally a flock of seagulls. (or a truck full of seagulls heisted) The old video wasn't working, blocked "in your country". That always sucks.
One of my favorite songs off of one of my all-time favorite albums: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I wouldn't say it would be the only album I'd take if deserted on an island (honestly, who would want only ONE album to listen to all the time?) but it's definitely in my Top Ten of all time. It helps that it's a double album (twice the tunes!), but there's not a song on it I don't like.
I was thinking of what music video to post and I first thought of Social Disease, but a quick search showed I had posted it not long ago. (glad the Blogger search works better than my memory!)
This song doesn't have any personal meaning to me, other than it was quite controversial for its time and I don't remember it being played on the radio...while at least a half-dozen of the other tunes off the album were. I'm fairly certain I didn't know what a lesbian was and certainly didn't know any. (which, come to find out much later, wasn't true) I like that it tells a story, even if it's a sad one.

You might recognize Matt LeBlanc (Friends) and Daphne Zuniga (Melrose Place). LeBlanc claims to have been drunk during the video, having shared a bottle of tequila with Seger immediately before the shoot.
