Feeling Nostalgic?

Thank goodness for high-speed Internet!

Remember "the old days" of dial-up?  Relive that time with Dial Up Sound.

I used AOL a time or two when money got tight and I couldn't afford my service provider monthly charge, but I disliked the AOL browser, so I would minimize it and use Internet Explorer.  I remember hooking up my first computer, using the directions I had got when I went down to the ISP office and arranged for service...it was a thrill hearing this sound, knowing that in just a matter of seconds I was going to be able to surf the World Wide Web!

My connection isn't nearly as fast as some, but at least I can now watch a YouTube video and have most pages load in a second or two.  I used to keep a book or magazine by the computer to have something to do while I was waiting on my email messages to all come up.

World's First Parking Meter

The Haircut

From thePhotobucket archives:

One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'

The florist was pleased and left the shop.

When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.

Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.'

The cop was happy and left the shop.

The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.

Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.'

The Congressman was very happy and left the shop.

The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.

And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
