You're probably right; back when I was working on the rigs we stopped at a convenience store after work and I picked up a stray cat that was hanging around, brought him home and found he'd been declawed. He would "bat" more than would any other cat we ever had.
I stepped on the Beej the other night and he didn't much appreciate it. Bless him, he didn't rip my ankle apart, just yowled like...well, like he'd been stepped on.
Declawing is sure a bad thing if you ever plan on letting your pet outside, guess everyone knows that. I threaten B with it all the time because I think every shirt I own has little claw holes in it.

I'm thinking that must be a declawed cat. That kid should have been shreeking in pain.
