Y'know, if they're going to pull an April Fool's joke, they should use a little more creativity like they have in the past. YouTube's offering is also pretty lame.

Here's some not-so-lame pranks: 10 Greatest April Fools Hoaxes

Plus these: Caricature of the Day or Sunken Yacht Prank and this one: How to Make April Fool's Food

UPDATE:

Now the GMail blog chimes in: Today’s vowel outage

And this one from Big Journalism, totally unbelievable:

If I had known we would have received so many hits from the Google blog, I'd have made the post a little less lame.

It's probably not wise to disparage Google. They could shut down my YouTube acct., disable my Google Reader and even shutter this blog. (since they own it)

That's the same sort of reason I don't speak ill of President Obama; I don't wanna be sent to the Death Camps.

Happy April Fool's Day to all my friends and recent visitors to this pathetic excuse for a blog.

I always look forward to the Google April fools joke. I did enjoy clicking around some of the links they embedded in their Topeka page. The one about partnering with Richard Branson and Virgin to colonize and map Mars was a good one.

I'm probably not really getting all these hits; it's most likely some sort of Google bot foolin' the counter.

Now THAT would be a good April Fools joke. -grin-

I had never visited your live feed counter page, that was interesting. It was fun seeing where folks were from, what browser and OS they were using...Only Linux folk I saw was someone who visited from Cambridge MA ( figures, lol)

It was fascinating to watch the hits, Barb. As I mentioned, at one time the "page" filled up in about a minute.

I also went to this blog's Google Analytics page but it wasn't up-to-date, a bit too soon, I guess.

I also noticed the "bounce rate" was very high, around 88%, which meant nearly nine out of ten visitors view only the "page" they came to see and didn't look around at the rest of the blog. (the avg. time spent here is about thirty seconds! lol) I bet that's not unusual for a blog, though, but it would be a blow to regular websites and especially those that were selling things or attempted to make money via ads.

Note to readers: The Caricature of the Day April Fool's joke was on that day only.
