A Very Bing Birthday
Among family, friends and my online pals. I've had a pretty good birthday so far. Several of my email newsletters have sent me special emails, also wishing me a happy birthday. (and I also got an email in my spam folder from a "young woman" who wished me a happy birthday and would give me a "special present" if I clicked on the enclosed link. I was tempted, but...)
Bing also sent me birthday wishes earlier today on their home page; the images were animated, but I just took screen shots.
Make a wish? Sure, so I clicked the button and got this:
I don't know how magical Bing is, but if my birthday wish comes true, I will be a lottery winner sometime this week. I hope it's the Powerball because it's MUCH larger than the Mega Millions or the Texas Lotto jackpots.

My Bing Birthday
My sister sent me a card and an Amazon gift card and some of my Facebook friends wished me a Happy Birthday...but only after my sis posted a birthday message. (I don't have my birthday listed) I've also received birthday wishes from various newsletters and a few coupons in the mail from companies such as American Spirit and Black & Mild. I'm pretty sure tobacco companies aren't concerned about me having MORE birthdays, y'know?
I opened up Bing early this a.m. to finish up this month's searches to get points for my regular $5 Amazon Gift Card, a great prize for reading and searching online, something I'd do for free anyway, and I saw this, pretty cool:
I clicked the "Make a Wish" link and got this:
I hope my wish comes true because I wished I'd win the lottery. I DID win $8 on last night's Powerball drawing, but I'm hopin' for a little more.
A few tens of millions more, actually.

Us and Them - Pink Floyd
I love saxophone music, so when I saw today's Google doodle celebrating the birthday of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone, it made me think about my favorite songs which use that instrument. Maybe it's my advancing age and failing memory, but I couldn't think of any. Thank goodness my senility hasn't prevented me from remembering how to use Google, so I did a quick search and was reminded of this Pink Floyd tune with some great sax solos.

It's Vivaldi's Birthday!
In honor of Antonio Vivaldi and his birthday, here's the concerto Spring from his composition The Four Seasons, performed by Julia Fischer accompanied by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. This post is not only to celebrate what is unarguably Vivaldi's best-know composition, but also wishful thinking on my part...seeing as how it's still winter, but that I'm desperately looking forward to springtime.

Topical Typing Trivia
Today is my h.s. typing/business teacher's birthday and in honor of her, here's this bit of trivia.
From The Old Farmer's Almanac:
What is the fastest speed on record (words per minute) for typing text?
There are three different words per minute (wpm) records -- for the manual typewriter, the electric typewriter, and the personal computer keyboard. On a manual typewriter, the world record is 176 wpm, and on an electric typewriter it is 216. In an official test in 1991, Gregory Arakelian of Virginia set the personal computer record with 158 wpm.
Sure beats my puny 54 WPM.

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Remembering Richard Wright, born this day in 1943 and died Sept. 15, 2008.
There were other versions I could have embedded, but I chose this one because it had the lyrics.

Happy Birthday to Me!
Pre-posting this one seven months before my birthday. I hope I'm not alone when this is posted.
Hard to be romantic when there's no one to be romantic with.
Good grief, I must have been feeling particularly sorry for myself when I scheduled this.

P.T. Barnum Born Today
P. T. Barnum
According to Wiki, P.T. Barnum did not say "There's a sucker born every minute.".
That said, whoever said it spake the truth, at least for the minute I was born.

My Birthday's Color
Your Birthday is Purple |
You are the independent type. It's hard for people to peg, label, or stereotype you. You enjoy people and things from all walks of life. You're incredibly open minded. You tend to be a bit fickle and even moody. You can end up hating what you love and vice versa. Your preferences and actions can be a bit mysterious at times. It's hard to predict what you'll do. |
