Back in the early 80's I went with some friends to a dance hall where the Grass Roots were on the bill. Imagine our surprise when the emcee came out and said that the Grass Roots were unable to make an appearance so some good friends of theirs had agreed to cover the gig.
Then out come Paul Revere and the Raiders, high boots, blue coats, tricorn hats and all. What a hoot!
I had posted this same tune back in '09, but had forgotten. Stumbling across it on YT, I did a search in here and saw the original vid had been taken down, so I put in the new code and "bumped" this up.
I wouldn't have been disappointed to have seen the substitute! The Grass Roots were more mellow and PR and the Raiders rocked out a little more. I have several songs from both groups in my jukebox.
Oh, it was fun! Very campy and definitely better to dance to.
