Something has been bothering me....
I've been staring at my pal Garazon's new fiancée, not just because she's gorgeous and I'm insanely jealous of so proud for him, but because Alison, my black sheep bud's betrothed, looked like "someone"... but I couldn't put my finger on who it was.
(and the last time I really put my finger on someone has been a LONG time ago, another reason I'm such a pathetic creature envious)
Then it finally dawned on me:
She looks like Mary McDonnell, television and movie star; some of McDonnell's more memorable movie roles have been in Sneakers, Independence Day and that already classic flick, Dances With Wolves. (my dad's fav. movie)
I'm always thinking someone looks like someone else, though. I suppose that's because I'm constantly being confused with Homer Simpson Mel Gibson.
Then, on the other hand, I could be wrong, could be all mixed up. That could be a distinct possibility; it happens frequently, I'm afraid to say.
Maybe I subconsciously think Garazon looks like Kevin Costner.

I stare at her quite a bit too! but only because I think she's gorgeous and the Love of my life! I think you're right though, she does look a lot like Mary McDonnell in the face and the hair style especially.
I sent her the link to the post this morning, she wanted to comment but can't for some reason. I'm not sure what the problem is. the page doesn't load or the comment wont go through.. well another person or two in her office has had the same trouble adding a comment to our blog as well, so I assume it's something on the company pc she has that prevents it.. well thank goodness her gmail loads on her work station so I can tell her she's gorgeous and I love her all day! :) She love's your writing and wanted to pass on her regards and thanks for sharing in our good news!
Hey if I looked like Kevin Costner I wouldn't be working 6 and 7 days a week! ;)
Thanks for the posts my friend! see you soon

Hiya Big G; glad you weren't offended. You know how I am. Thanks for your kind comments; I know how Southerners are, though, always polite even to the extent of using little white lies...or even big bald-faced ones...to keep from being truthfully rude. -grin-
Alison: So nice to "meet you" finally; I've been keeping up with you two via Chester's website, then stumbled across his blog.
I am intending to go to England with a quick side trip to Normandy at the end of this summer, maybe early fall. Not for sure if time nor budget would permit me to travel much more than that.
Thanks for the offer, though. If you're ever in Texas, I'll take you to Allison, population of around 200 or so.
If you AND Chester are in Texas, meant to say.
I hear those bullets hurt going in.
Well I don't know if I'd shoot ya, being a meatcutter for 30 years I'm more adept with a knife! ;) lol
I got my flight booked the other week and I will be going to England too, well for 3 hours anyway on a layover! One day I would like to plan a holiday there as well, so many lovely places to see, well the pictures look lovely anyway! I haven't hardly been out of NC!
Hey thanks for the video too! it made us both so happy! and that's no white lie! or even a baldfaced one! ;) love ya man

Thanks again Mike , the video/song was spot on and made me happy listening to it !
Which area are you planning to visit in England when you go ? there are many beautiful areas but the North East.....well Im biased of course ....has some good spots and an area called The Lake District is wonderful....oh I would like to see Normandy also ....lots of history there , the war museums etc....that place marked the beginning of the end for the Gerries in the 2nd world war.
ok ...im off to work...thanks again, and I sure would like to visit Allison when we get to travel to Texas in the future ( :
I'm sorry I didn't reply; well, I did, but I did via the mail and they FINALLY bounced back to me.
Guess you can't do that.
That knife mention sends a shudder down my entire body. Shoot me if you will, but please, no knife. I've got a story about working in the liquor store, but...another time.
I have fainted with a paper cut.
Alison, you DO look like Mary McDonnell. I was also under the impression, when G first told us Black Sheep about you, that you were Greek. I take it you're an expat-Brit?
I want to go visit a friend in Colchester, then *maybe* one in Oxford, prob. not, but I'd love to see her. I would want to go to London, but I would need someone to hold my hand, esp. crossing the streets.
I'd get flattened by one of those double-decker busses straightaway, I'm afraid.
I almost got run-over by a covered wagon being pulled by four white mules the other day, no joke. What's worse, I knew the people on the wagon. I know lots of people who have fallen OFF the wagon, but that's another story for another time.
Yes, I think D-Day was probably the most important day of the 20th century. Of course, I've seen all the war movies and I guess it was "Private Ryan" that made up my mind to go. I want to take the Chunnel over and the hovercraft back or vicey-versey, I don't care. It's been a place I've wanted to visit for a long, long time.
I'm also an Anglophile (Churchill is one of my historical heroes) and a few years back was astounded to find out the "name" part of my family came from England to America even before we became a country. My last name is fairly rare here in the US but it's fairly common in Great Britain.
Thanks for posting.
