I like polka music. Not all the time, but I do like it. I must have some Polish in me, reckon?

Katy Perry is lovely, isn't she? She has the prettiest face and legs. Makes me wish I was...well, a lot younger.

And rich.

And handsome.

I don't know of any Polish blood in our family, but if you like polka music you should have been here in Denton last week, Mike. The Arts & Jazz Festival closed Sunday evening with the band Brave Combo. I'm not sure why a polka band closed a jazz fest, but maybe it's cause they are well known and local. Denton has a very eclectic music background. There are lots of Polish festivals in this part of the country, especially in the smaller towns. Lots of kielbasa, pierogis, and polka. Not as fun as Cowcalling, but lots of good food and fun music.

I bet we have all sorts of European blood in us we don't know about, sis. Germany is right next door to Poland, after all. For every person on our name/paternal bloodline, there's another married into it, not to mention all those through the other bloodlines through mom.

Anyway....

I keep meaning to go over to the White Deer festival; might do it this year. Just started eating a little pork again after years of not, or at least not very much.

There's an early morning radio show I listen to, can't remember which one ("listen" to many, actually...they're on while I'm doing other things, just for background noise) They have a "Name that Tune" contest, only the popular song is done on an accordion. The promo is one of Donna Summers "Bad Girls", really funny.

Hey Mike, I know you have wide and varied taste in music, but never thought of you as a polka facier. The Town I grew up in had a huge percentage of off the boat Pols. We used to joke that all the mailboxes had to have an extra 4 inches added to them so all the long, consonant heavy, names would fit.

But, back to music. If you do like polka you ought to check out this band, The Serfs with Gary Sredzienski. Here's a link to his web page.

I think the Serfs have a myspace page with some clips loaded too.
They are a local fav in my parts. They combine Polka, Surf and World music. Think "The Venturas" with accordion, lol. I love seeing them play live, really fun stuff.

will go and check out the link Barb posted and have a Polka morning.

Barb, I remember a time when we were in chat and I mentioned I liked polka music. I think you brought up that same band.

That was probably five/six years ago or longer. I don't forget much.

I really like the PA Polka in "Groundhog Day". I meant to post the vid from YT in this year's Groundhog Day post, but forgot.

I worked with a welder whose last name was "Poliskowsky". Funny about the mailboxes.

Thanks for posting, everyone!

Gosh, you have a much better memory than I do! I am a fan of that band because they are really fun to see live. I love watching folks reactions because it's such a surreal combination, surf rock and accordion polka.
