I was checking the status of my refund earlier today and decided to read then take a screen shot of the warming that pops up before you can proceed on the site. I've seen the same thing when looking at the Top Ten Most Wanted on the FBI site as well as trying to look up something on the official White House website.
Nothing new here, folks, move along. Y'know, you're really not paranoid if someone really IS watching you.
The word paranoia always reminds me of this tune:
Destroyer - The Kinks
"Paranoia, the destroyer"

About two weeks ago, I happened to be working the Creek Nation Casino in Muskogee. Had to walk back and forth between the Game Tech room & Office several times, each time passing four guests who were very obviously tweeking on Meth as they played.
So I gave into temptation, and began to say, barely above a whisper, "Paranoia" as I passed behind them each way.
Wearing a suit, and a State of Oklahoma ID, having long hair too, I had to give them fits, and soon they were nudging each other and whispering, when I'd come round again.
paranoia strikes deep
I don't understand why someone would want to use speed while gambling. OTOH, I guess it would be better than taking downers.
I'd also think that smoking pot *might* be good for playing slots, watching the wheels go 'round and 'round, but prob. not good for any other game where you'd have to think.
Getting drunk while playing seems to be something else that wouldn't be a good thing to do - I'm not much of a drinker, but when I have consumed too much, it's adversely affected my judgment. That's why, the next morning, that ol' gal wasn't nearly as pretty and smart as I thought she was the night before, reckon?
I'd think that gambling itself would make for a better high than using any substance. I've never been to a casino, but I've spent far too much money on the lottery and scratch tickets.
I have kinfolk in Las Vegas and a few yrs. back one of my cousins told me to come out there to get work, that I could live with him until I got established. I told him I'd have to have a damn good job that paid well, what with the constant temptation out there. He told me he had gambled away the rent money a couple of times after moving there and now his wife gives him an allowance to spend on the poker slots when he goes out w/ his buddies.
Thanks for posting, hope you're doing better, must be if you have gone back to work.
Yeah, I used to wonder about the desire to use drugs while gambling, and you hit the nail on the head with your comment on the popular, illegal ones, plus alcohol.
It's the booze and weed that I still cannot 3rd-person-justify, for the slow reaction effects you imply.
I've never ever taken speed, but that one, having witnessed the use, I can begin to understand.
It's this: A player's mind needs the quick, repetitive rhythm which most slots offer. One win out of eight taps of a button is satisfying enough to keep him/her visiting the ATM for another Benjamin, and thus more soothing spinning reels and electronic tones from their game.
They are handsomely paying
to come down, shut out the demons,
with the outside hope of winning big.
I've moved on... to wondering why the drag queens show up at casinos so darn often....~ UGGH
I love to gamble and have been to casino's in 3 or 4 different states. The Winstar casino right across the Oklahoma line is only 30 minutes or so away from here. I will not start going, especially alone cause if I did I'm afraid I would not stop going. Kind of like drinking alone. I have a genetic predisposition to both of those issues, as you well know. Maybe my common sense would prevail and I would be okay gambling more...or maybe that's where MY paranoia rears it's ugly head.
