Even though Buddy was a bit before my time I really like his music.
I also remember thinking that the movie they made staring Gary Busey was awefully good. Even better when I learned Busey had done his own singing.

Yeah, guess he died before you were even born, but "the day the music died" is known by everyone, even if they don't know the date.

One of my first arguments in Groups/Comms was w/ a British woman who said "the day.." was when John Lennon died. When I pointed out American Pie was written before Lennon was killed, she said that's what it SHOULD have meant. Lennon couldn't bust a grape up next to Holly; the Beatles were heavily influenced by Holly.

That's one of my fav. movies of Busey's, even one of my fav. movies, top 20 at least. He was up for an Oscar, but darned if I can remember who beat him out for it. I'll have to go look it up, but I am thinking it was maybe N. Cage for Leaving Las Vegas. Whoever it was, seems as though they deserved it, but Busey did a brilliant job.

I read he purchased one of Holly's guitars, for something like a quart million bucks.

Busey is one of those Hollyweird celebs that managed to piss away his success with drugs and sorry behavior.

There's an edit on the first post, but not on our comments, just a "trash can".

I sure could use it.
