Well we'll be sure to stay out of the creepy mansions, but I'm sure even then we wil be fine!

The road was long but I ran it.
There's a fire in my heart and you fan it.
If there's one fool for you than I am it
I've one thing to say and that's...
Dammit — Alison ;) — I love you.

It's one of my fav. scenes in the movie. I love the cute lyrics and the two, Bostwick and Sarandon, sang that simple little harmony so well. (reminds me of that Steve Martin movie "The Jerk" where he and Bernadette Peters sang together, Martin on the ukelele)

I remember the first time I saw this, there was more of a show in the audience than was on the screen, and my g/f-ex-wife was grabbing my arm every five minutes and saying "Watch this, you'll see those people later!" or "This is a great song." or everyone shouting out the lines and then responding to them, water in the air, lighters going off and people SMOKING in the theater.

And that was not to mention the people dressed as the characters and them dancing in the aisles or on their seats.

Was a trip. I've got a poster, a nice coffee table book on how the project came to be, all about all the characters and people behind the film...got the DVD and the VHS tape, got the original soundtrack as well as one from the stage play.

I haven't watched it in a while, but I did catch this scene and stayed for The Time Warp and Hot Patootie, my three fav. parts.

Got the vids from them, too. Will post soon.

I believe that was one of the things we found we had in common, Barb. I think it was from me w/ all my midi files and my "tributes" to them.

Thanks for posting, both of you!

Thanks for your comment, Alison.

RHPS is an aquired taste, I suppose. I got tired of it after buying my first copy and watching it a few times; there's a lot of difference between the carnival atmosphere back in the mid-70's when I first saw it.

It's one of those "cult phenomenon" deals and I've met lots more people my age or younger that never saw it or even heard of it.

I felt an attraction to it because it's a spoof on all those old Frankenstein movies, as well as the early sci-fi flicks, some of which could at best be called dreadful...but "campy" would be a better term, so awful they're funny.

What's great about RHPS is that you can see it a hundred times--as I think I prob. haven't reached yet, but I've seen it a LOT--and you'll see new things ea. and every time if you'll look at the background, the supporting cast and their faces and actions, bits and pieces of the set that have been carefully designed to LOOK like a set in a WAY off-Broadway play...a low-budget one, which RHPS really was.

And not having a lot of money to spend, it's interesting to see all of the future stars in the "musical". Sarandon is prob. the biggest star, but Tim Curry was prob. the most talented of all them. Barry Bostwick went on to great success in American TV and Meat Loaf had had only minor and brief success in music at that time.

Makes me want to dig out my book on it again, because I've already forgotten so much about the behind the scenes stuff, was fascinating.

RHPS has a few pretty raunchy scenes, it's not for kids. Still, the sex scenes parody the sex scenes in the movies of the past and that time, but even also those of this era. (although Dr. Frankenfurter -ahem- plays "both roles")

I think any gratutitous scenes were placed there for that very reason: to be gratuitious and only that! LOL

I'm going to go ahead and post Time Warp right now as soon as I post this.
