He looks so nice, is he a big dog ?,his face looks really long but maybe its the angle the photo was taken at, its so true about dog being mans best friend, I prefer my dog over some humans to be honest ;) he is always loyal and showing lots of affection, Im going to be so sad to have to part with him when I leave Cyprus for USA

Oh, I'd say he's just above medium-sized. The only reason I posted the photo is it's one of the very, very few that were good that I took last night at my friends.

I understand that about preferring an animal to humans. I've made that same comment, been raked over the coals. Don't get me wrong, I love my cat but if I was really hungry, I'd eat him before I would a human. -grin-

How long would a quarantine last? It's hard for me to imagine there's absolutely no way to get your dog over here.

I mean...you could ship over beef with mad cow disease, send vegetables with e-coli all over them, but you can't bring your dog?

Its not impossible Mike, well my first concern more than the actual cost which would probably amount to near 1,500 dollars or more is that it may prove too traumatic for the dog as its not a direct flight ,its 2 changes amounting to maybe more than 18 hours in a miserable box if sorts.
Actual quarentine may not be needed if I have the innoculations up to date etc and a pet passport in order.
It really would be quite alot to handle myself as this time travelling I have most likely to have some interviews with the immigration and having to produce all my documents to show I am actually making a permanent move to the States so Im sure I will not be able to concentrate on finding the dog and seeing that he is ok in between flights , If I find a good home for him I think its probably kinder and easier all around to leave him, but if not then I will surely have to do what I have to do to transport him with me.
I is a tough decision because he is part of my family, dont know about eating him though ; )
yikes what a thought .

Just kidding. I'd hate to have to eat him. He probably wouldn't fend for himself, though.

You're most likely right about what's best for your dog. It just tugged at my heart, thinking about you having to leave him behind. The other stuff about the imports was a dig at this govt.
